The Beach Cruiser, in its true longboard form, was designed to remove all the noise from the signal and allow you to experience surfing in its purest form. I had the idea to reimagine that concept providing a similar overarching experience, yet in a smaller form factor for enhanced logistics both in and out of the water. It's a unique design that I'm calling a Micro-Longboard, as it has different proportions than a typical longboard, mini-longboard or midlength to achieve what it does.
While the Beach Cruiser Micro won't provide the same level of supreme glide & weak/soft wave catching way out-the-back like the Beach Cruiser longboard will, it does offer much of a true longboard feel with some alternative pros that might appeal to you.
The shorter length offers better control & handling when in small but quick, dynamic waves - where handling the full-size longboards and even mini-longboards can be a bit of a chore and sometimes limiting, yet the waves are lacking size/shape/power where the midlengths don't quite have enough get-up-and-go that you might want or need. So when waves aren't rolling in from far out, and waves/peaks are popping up quickly, the shorter length offers more control on the quicker drops along with better agility on the quicker breaking waves.
That same shorter length also can make navigating more crowded lineups (summertiiime!) easier and less daunting/challenging compared to full-size longboards when there are other surfers to dodge along your waves.
Lastly, the shorter length provides an easier transport for family beach days when you're lugging all the gear along with the spouse, kids & whoever else is joining for the day compared to a full longboard, yet provides much of the small wave abililty in a higher-volume and easier experience than a short-format board like a fish or groveler. And/or your vehicle can't fit a full-size longboard. Those are a real-world conveniences that might not be the only reason to get this board, but in application can be extremely helpful.
While the core shape is derived from the Beach Cruiser longboard, the tricky part of designing the Beach Cruiser Micro was re-balancing the way I typically design a board to pack all that foam and width into a proportionally shorter board that would (1) provide much of the longboardy experience, (2) would be considerably more agile, and (3) still surfs & feels refined and wasn't just a giant chunk-monster that only goes straight and has no soul or ride-feel/wave sensitivity. I'm happy to say I'm very excited about the final result here, and I think many of you will be, too!
So in short, the Beach Cruiser Micro provides a longboard-adjacent wave catching and cruisey experience in a short package the offers a tighter turning radius and enhanced, easier control in small but quick waves, crowded lineups and has the added bonus of being easier & more convenient to transport & store.
